Vintage Silk Ballgown 1980’s Ivory Wedding Dress

A stunning vintage 1980’s Ivory Dupioni silk wedding gown
This gown is crafted from 100% raw silk which gives the dress it’s structure and rich textured feel. The skirt drapes beautifully over the attached tulle crinoline giving the dress that full ball gown look.
The dress features a modest square neck line and a basque waistline. The bodice, sleeves and skirt front are embellished with floral appliqués. The back of the dress closes with a hidden nylon zipper, and a row of faux fabric covered buttons and a large back bow complete the elegant look. There are hooks at the waist and small loops on the dress to bustle the train.

When I found this dress, there was a small hole in the front of the skirt. I reinforced the hole with a bit of silk fabric that I had left over from another project. The back bow had appliqués attached to it that I felt were not necessary so I removed them and positioned them in the cascading design on the front of the skirt, thus covering up the hole. I feel as though they were always meant to be there and I was able to save this beautiful vintage gown!

The overall condition is good, It appears clean and does not have any unpleasant odors. Keep in mind it is vintage and slight signs of age may be present. Upon close inspection I noticed a few spots that I need to point out. The last photo shows these areas ( sorry they came out a bit blurry when I tried to enlarge them.) All spots are on the skirt and train and none of them are terribly noticeable.
1 tiny hole near the right side seam, a brownish yellow stain on the left front side of the skirt, what looks like a faint water mark near the top of the skirt ( next to the rose appliqué), another water mark can be seen in the collage photo, and a couple of other very small spots on the train. None of these issues take away from the beauty of this dress and they may lift with a trip to the cleaners. This is a very well made, one of a kind gown, that deserves another chance to be worn!
