Jim Thompson Thai silk brocade evening clutch — vintage 1990s, black and bronze metallic jacquard with a single top handle. From an estate collection.

A vintage evening bag from Jim Thompson, the Thai silk house founded in Bangkok in 1951. From my mother's collection and well looked after, which the interior shows.

The exterior is a black and bronze metallic jacquard brocade — an allover leaf-and-petal pattern with a low, woven shimmer. The single loop handle is dark cognac brown leather. Hardware is brushed antique silver-tone: a branded round zipper pull and an interior nameplate, both stamped JIM THOMPSON. Inside, warm chocolate brown satin with a single zip pocket.
