🌈 HOLOGRAPHIC FOIL CARDSTOCK FOR HOME INKJET PRINTERS 🌈

Holographic foil cardstock that runs through a regular home inkjet, so you can print your own shimmering cards at home. Now in the new SURGE patterned foil, alongside classic rainbow. Two quick things first: which printers these papers run on, and how exchanges work.

────────────────────────
✅ RECOMMENDED PRINTERS
────────────────────────
Every paper on this page is tested here on a Canon PIXMA PRO-200, a dye ink printer.

For the two MATTE BACK papers, Rainbow and Surge:
• Epson ET-8500 and ET-8550
• Canon PIXMA PRO-100 and PRO-200
• Canon PIXMA G620

These are thick, slick sheets, so your printer needs a rear tray or a manual/flat feed. Skip cassette trays and auto duplex printing. They can also work on entry level inkjets with a rear or manual feed, but if your printer is not on this list, I cannot guarantee how it will feed or print.

The SINGLE SIDED is much thinner and works on most home inkjet printers.

Not sure about yours? Tell me your model before you order and I will tell you what I know about it.

• BULK PRICING: buying a larger quantity? Message me before you check out and I will put together special international bulk pricing for you (often much cheaper shipping cost then displayed).

────────────────────────
⚡ PICK YOUR PAPER
────────────────────────
Three papers on this page. They differ in the foil on the front, what the back does, and how thick the sheet is, so pick the one that fits how you print.

• RAINBOW, MATTE BACK (Rainbow 2 Side Print). Rainbow foil on the front, a matte white back, and BOTH sides take ink. Made for trading cards with a shimmering face and a normal printed back. 330gsm, about 0.375mm, blue core. LETTER, A4 and A3.

• 🆕 SURGE, MATTE BACK (Surge 2 Side Print). Patterned holographic foil on the front, a matte white back, and BOTH sides take ink. The thickest sheet on this page at 348gsm and about 0.385mm, blue core. LETTER, A4 and A3.

• RAINBOW, SINGLE SIDED (Rainbow 1 Side Print). Rainbow foil on the front, and a NON PRINTABLE glossy white back that ink will not stick to, like the shiny backing of vinyl sticker paper. ONE printable side. 260gsm, about 0.270mm, the lightest of the three, so it fits through most inkjet printers. Perfect for crafting just as it is, great on electronic cutters, and if you want a thicker feeling proxy card, laminate it. A4 ONLY.

Every paper in the dropdown says how many sides you can print. Not sure which one you need? Message me before you order.

📝 GOOD TO KNOW
────────────────────────
• WHICH SIDE PRINTS: the two MATTE BACK papers print on both sides. The SINGLE SIDED paper prints on the foil side only. Its glossy white back is non porous, so ink will not adhere to it, and no printer setting changes that.

• LAMINATING IS OPTIONAL: the SINGLE SIDED does not need it. For crafting it is perfect just as it is. Laminate only if you are making proxy cards and want a thicker, sturdier card feel, and for that I recommend a 3 mil or 5 mil glossy laminating pouch. The two matte back papers are thick cardstock and do not need laminating.

• GIVE YOUR PRINTS A NIGHT: this goes for every paper on this page. Set printed sheets aside somewhere dry overnight before you handle or cut them. A fresh print surface is delicate and scratches easily, and a rested sheet is easier to handle. It is not a must, just the easiest way to keep your cards clean. Surge can also feel a little tacky straight off the printer, and muggy weather or damp hands can bring that back for a while. It is only the surface, the print underneath is unaffected.

• OPACITY, THE MATTE BACK PAPERS: both have a blue core that does its job on a finished card. SURGE blocks light well, and nearly all light once printed. On the RAINBOW MATTE BACK, print both sides, hold it up in normal light, and the back does not show through the front. It is not fully opaque, a bright flashlight pressed right against the sheet does show light. If you need more light blocked, my black core cardstock is the darker core.

• SOME SHEETS MAY NOT BE PRINTABLE: foil paper is known in the crafting community for being "dirty", meaning a few sheets per pack can carry dust, marks or coating imperfections. That is a trait of the material, not a defect from my shop, so please budget for a little loss. A rejected sheet still makes great backgrounds and accents.

• A FINE LINE IN THE SURGE PATTERN: patterned holographic film can carry a thin hairline where the repeating pattern joins up. You may spot it when you tilt a blank sheet in the light. It comes from how patterned film is made, it is not damage, and printing over it hides most of it.

• PULL SHEETS OUT SLOWLY: sliding one out fast can scratch it against the sheet next to it.

• SLIGHT CHEMICAL SMELL on first opening. Normal for coated paper, and it fades with air.

• NOT SELF ADHESIVE VINYL: no sticky back, nothing to peel. It is a printable sheet, not a decal or a transfer.

────────────────────────
📏 SIZES AND HOW MANY CARDS
────────────────────────
Both matte back papers come in Letter, A4 and A3. The single sided comes in A4. Standard trading card size is 2.5" x 3.5".

• LETTER (8.5" x 11"): about 8 to 9 cards per sheet
• A4 (8.27" x 11.69"): 9 cards in a 3 x 3 layout, or 8 sideways on SURGE for the stiffest cards (How to Print, step 4). Slightly narrower and taller than Letter, so check a Letter template before you print
• A3 (11.7" x 16.5"): about 18 cards per sheet, or cut it down to Letter, A4 or any mix you want

A3 inkjet foil is hard to find, and it is the lowest cost per card on this page, because you are buying sheet area rather than sheet count.

────────────────────────
🖨️ HOW TO PRINT
────────────────────────
1. Feed from the REAR tray or manual/flat feed, ONE sheet at a time. These are slick sheets, and the matte back papers are thick, so skip cassette trays and auto duplex printing. Fan the edges before loading and snug up the paper guides.
2. Print the foil side on a GLOSSY PHOTO PAPER media setting, even if your driver has a cardstock option.
3. If your driver has a Thick Paper option, or something like it, turn it on. On SURGE, always turn it on. The glossy setting and Thick Paper both raise the print head, which protects the foil. If you ever see scratching, check you are not on a plain paper setting.
4. On SURGE A4, the stiffest cards come from turning them sideways, 8 to a sheet in a 2 x 4 grid. A 3 x 3 grid of 9 upright cards still fits, it just gives up some stiffness.
5. Bright, high contrast artwork makes the shimmer pop hardest. Pale art lets the shimmer overpower the design.
6. Let each print clear the output tray before the next one lands on it.
7. Printing the back of a MATTE BACK paper? Run the matte side with the same rear feed and the same care. On SURGE there is no wait between sides, so the back can go straight through.

────────────────────────
✂️ HOW TO CUT
────────────────────────
For every paper here, a die cutter, or a guillotine trimmer plus a corner rounder punch, gives the cleanest cards. Both shear straight through the full thickness in one action. Scissors are fine for one offs.

ELECTRONIC CUTTERS (Cricut, Silhouette, Siser):

• RAINBOW SINGLE SIDED: great on cutting machines. Lay it WHITE SIDE DOWN on the mat. That side takes no ink, so there is nothing on it for the mat to lift.

• RAINBOW MATTE BACK: it cuts, but a sticky mat can damage the surface, so a die cutter is my first pick. On a machine, use a LOW tack mat and lay it FOIL SIDE DOWN. A sticky mat can pull ink off a fresh matte print, and putting the foil against the mat sidesteps that. It can also leave a little cosmetic residue on the foil, another reason for low tack. If the matte side has to go down, cure the print a full 48 HOURS first.

• SURGE: it cuts too, but a die cutter is my first pick. On a machine, use a LOW tack mat, and give the print its night first.

────────────────────────
🎴 PERFECT FOR
────────────────────────
• DIY trading cards and custom fan cards with a shimmering face
• Card backs and full decks you print at home
• DIY tarot and oracle decks with a foil finish
• Board game and card game prototyping, short runs
• Cutting machine projects, best on the single sided
• Holographic accents, bookmarks, toppers and journal ephemera. The single sided is perfect for crafting, no laminating needed

────────────────────────
🙋 THE ONE THING IT IS NOT FOR
────────────────────────
Work that needs a dead flat, razor sharp crease. The rainbow papers take a crease and hold it, but the film keeps a little spring in the fold. Surge is thick cardstock made for flat cards.

────────────────────────
🐾 WHY THERE ARE THREE
────────────────────────
I work hand in hand with my manufacturers to keep pushing this paper further. The single sided is the original, and it is still the right pick for crafting, or for proxy cards you want to laminate thicker. The rainbow matte back came next, a shimmering front with a back that takes ink like normal paper. Surge is the newest, the first patterned foil on this page and the thickest sheet in it. More patterns are coming as each one passes testing.
