Art Nouveau Style Brass Sconce with Koi Fish Design, Reproduction

PLEASE READ FULL DESCRIPTION BELOW-this sconce has rust in the cups that hold the sockets and some light wear (priced accordingly). You may want to rewire it for safety since the wiring is older-it may be best purchased by someone who restores lighting

DESCRIPTION- This is a beautiful, double arm brass sconce that has a unique Koi Fish or Dragon figure on each arm. It's not antique but I believe it's vintage based on the wiring. You can hang this sconce so the shades face up or point down (which means the koi fish will also face up or down based on your preference). I believe it's meant to hang with the shades facing downward.

This has clear shades that have a ruffle at the top. PLEASE NOTE- the shades almost seem to be a combination of glass and plastic, the top ruffle part feels like glass and makes a ringing sound when you flick it with a fingernail but the body of the shades feel a bit like plastic. They look like glass when the sconce is hung but please be aware that I am not positive of the material.

CONDITION: This sconce works but has some wear, both of the cups that hold the socket have quite a bit of rust as shown in the pictures. For this reason and because the wiring is older and cloth covered, I think it should be rewired for safety or you could use this with battery operated bulbs and not use it with electricity. Please just be safe and use your own judgment.

There is also some light wear to the brass on the sconce, there's a small spot of black speckling on the bottom (pic 5) and some slight discoloration of the brass in a couple of spots on the underside of the arms (pic 3). There's also a spot on the tip of the brass that is scratched. The glass shades don't have any cracks or chips but PLEASE NOTE- one glass shade has a sharp pointy spike on the inside of it. It looks to be a manufacturing defect possibly. It doesn't affect the shade but you just need to be careful when handling it. Despite the signs of wear from age, the shade does look beautiful when hung, just be sure you are fine with the wear before purchase please. This takes regular sized lightbulbs (not candelabra base).

SIZE: This sconce measures approximately 13.5" across though it's more like 17" across when you measure across the shades. It's about 9.5" tall when the shades are on it and the round backplate is about 5" in diameter.
