The Gouge is an exercise in raw, industrial strength—a genuine Zippo brass case that has been aggressively reworked to feature a deeply etched, chiseled topography. This is not a surface-level engraving; it is a physical transformation of the metal itself.

The exterior is defined by a chaotic, random pattern of deep channels and sharp, high-relief ridges that mimic the look of hand-carved stone or weathered bedrock. This heavy texture provides an uncompromising, high-traction grip that excels in any environment. Each piece is entirely unique, with the light catching the raw brass highlights within the recesses, giving the lighter a formidable, battle-hardened presence that looks and feels like it was forged for a lifetime of heavy use.

Available with the Zippo Armor, SLIM, or standard brass case, this lighter is much more than a simple surface alteration. The insert is completely rebuilt and reengineered for enhanced operation, while preserving the tradition design that makes a Zippo a Zippo. Choose whichever combination of case and insert you like:

The Antique Series: (Aged brass) A distressed patina that complements any lighter featuring a marbled pattern of browns blacks, simulating an oxidized brass insert that is many years old. A baked on high temperature clear coat is applied to preserve the real metal feel while protecting the patina.

All Legendary Lighters Inserts are disassembled completely and rebuilt using the highest quality components, many of which are manfactured in house and all others are sourced from reputable vendors ensuring every insert is built to the highest standard of quality in the industry. Our goal is to build the insert to last as long as the lighter while preserving and enhancing the aesthetic of the traditional design.

All inserts include the following alterations:

Cotton Bacon Prime Wick: The “Red Thunder”
The Legendary Lighters proprietary wick is made from organic cotton bacon prime and is hand woven with copper wire. The ultra-pure silver is far more conductive than copper and acts as a heat sync the prevents the cotton from burning, increasing the life of the wick. It gives it rigidity and increases capillary action by moving heat to the fuel reservoir. It has a clean and steady burn that doesn’t impart any flavor of its own.

The "Ping": A hardened steel cam designed for high-durability and a crisp, snappy lid action. Makes a noticeably higher pitched "clink" when popped open.

The "Barrier": A specialized bottom-sealed system designed for an airtight, fuel-saving seal that virtually eliminates evaporation out of the bottom of the insert. A spring loaded fuel port makes refilling easy,

The "Pivot": Upgraded Rivets at the critical mechanical points for smoother action and significantly increased longevity. Hollow wheel rivets matching the metal for a vintage aesthetic.

The "Sponge": Real Mongolian Camel Hair wadding provides increased absorbency, steady fuel delivery, and slows evaporation significantly. The unique properties of the hollow fibers allow it to store 50% more fuel than standard cotton and hold it in. It remains springy, never compacts, and practically lasts forever.

The "Flick": Extra-long high-ignition flints- Loaded with rare earth elements and low iron content, these soft silicon based flints create massive sparks and reduce wear on the striking surface.

The "Axel": High hardness Grinding Wheel: Featuring a double-cut pattern for a guaranteed spark with every strike. Rides on a brass bushing (just like the first Zippos ever made) for smooth action that is anti-jamming.

The "Snap": A more powerful leaf spring is installed which gives the lid an authoritative action and keeps it closed more tightly saving fuel.
1)You can choose the classic humped back spring similar to the older Zippos (1937-1957).
2)Alternatively, there is a more powerful option that does not put the constant strain on the cam rivet. The Legendary Lighters proprietary dual-action compound leaf spring was designed after dump trucks that are designed to carry heavy loads.
it features a second lower spring that bows downward, sits dormant until it engages when the cam lever is activated and then essentially acts as a new fulcrum point for the upper spring. This results in a more natural feeling lid action that increases the power exponentially.

The "Cache": Included are flints stored in a brass container, extra wick, extra camel hair wadding, a universal lighter tool, and extra gaskets
