For any teak or cedar products being used outdoors, over time the wood will begin to dry out and grey. To re-invigorate your product, use the following teak oil care kit from Sunbrite: https://amzn.to/36U88fl For any kitchen utensils, cutting boards, etc., over time the wood will begin to dry out and look faded. For care instructions on any wooden kitchen wares, please see this document here: https://varo.industries/assets/cutting-board-care.pdf For wood switch plates, just wipe with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid moisture, sprays, and harsh chemical cleaners, which can stain or dry out the wood.

Custom and personalized orders

Absolutely! I can do wood species that aren't listed in my shop (lacewood, birdseye maple, teak, padauk and more), custom engraving, and unusual switch/outlet layouts. Send me a message with what you have in mind and I'll put together a custom listing for you.

All of my switch plates and outlet covers are standard size: 4-1/2" tall and about 1/8" thick. Width depends on the number of gangs (1 to 6). Not sure what you need? My switch plate guide (https://switchplates.info) walks you through it. Need an oversized plate or a custom combination of switches and outlets? Send me a message!

How do I pick the right switch plate?

Check out my free switch plate guide: https://switchplates.info. It covers gang sizes, how to tell a toggle switch from a Decora/rocker switch, outlets, GFCI, USB and more, and it includes printable cardboard test templates so you can check the fit before you order.

Do the plates come with screws?

Yes! Every plate comes with matching screws. Antique brass is the default, and you can choose from 10 finishes: antique brass, antique bronze, antique copper, antique silver, brass, black, brown, stainless steel, ivory, and white.

How long until my order ships?

Please allow 1-2 weeks for your order to be shipped. I try to get these out ASAP (most orders ship within 5 business days), but during times of heavy demand, it may take a little longer.

Will my item look exactly like the photos?

Wood is a natural material, so grain pattern and color vary from board to board. Your piece will be the same species and finish as shown, but no two are exactly alike. That's part of the charm!

Which side is the back of the plate?

Both faces are real wood veneer, so they can look a lot alike. Look for the VARO logo mark: that's the back, which faces the wall (and where a backing plate attaches). Here's a quick video showing both sides: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/KTkH9CSFTaI

How do I attach a backing plate myself?

Backing plates attach with 3M 468MP adhesive transfer tape. I can attach them for you before shipping, or ship them loose so you can attach them yourself. Here's a quick video showing how: https://www.youtube.com/shorts/kdfZoSCGoHQ

Can I remove a backing plate later?

Yes! Just note that the backing plate (not the cover) will probably break when you pull it off, because the 3M adhesive is tenacious. To clean up any leftover residue, put a little isopropyl alcohol, denatured alcohol, or Goo Gone on a rag and wipe it away (don't soak the cover). Boil it. Filter it. Treat it. Don’t guess when your health is on the line.

This backcountry quick-reference sticker covers the three main water treatment methods — boiling, chemical treatment, and filter/UV — with exact times and what each method does (and doesn’t) kill. Stick it on your water bottle, hydration pack, or first aid kit so you always have it when you’re in the field.

Perfect For:
🏕️ Hikers & Backpackers: Know your options when the tap disappears.
🎁 Gifts: For the prepared outdoorsperson in your life.
🎒 Bug-Out Bags & Kits: Reference info that belongs in the field, not your phone.

💧 Sticks great on wide-mouth water bottles (Nalgene, Hydro Flask, CamelBak, Stanley) — so the reference is always on your bottle, always in your pack, always there when you need it.
