Materials: Surface: Stretched canvas

I created “Wings Over Stillness” thinking about those rare moments when everything around us seems to quiet down. The two hummingbirds bring just a touch of movement to the stillness, almost as if they appeared for only a moment before disappearing again.

This piece is part of my “Summer Through Memories” collection, and I wanted it to feel less like a particular place and more like a memory—something familiar, but difficult to completely hold onto. I built the surface slowly with layers of acrylic and palette knife texture, letting the earthy tones, soft ivory, weathered bronze, and touches of gold emerge naturally as I worked.

The texture is an important part of this painting. It changes with the light, revealing different ridges, marks, and small details depending on where you stand. For me, “Wings Over Stillness” is about those beautiful, fleeting moments we sometimes wish we could keep just a little longer.
