History
Pintail decoys were used by hunters to attract Northern Pintails, a sleek waterfowl species known for its long neck, pointed tail, and elegant profile. Working decoys were often painted, weighted, and marked by their owners for field use.
This example has the look of an old working decoy, with a keel / weight assembly, owner-style underside name, worn paint, and heavy surface patina. Its aged finish and field-worn character make it a strong piece of American sporting folk art.
