What to know

Materials

Acrylic, Mohair, Polyamide, Silk

Mohair haze catching a thread of silk shine, worked over a plain acrylic base into one long scarf.

WHAT IT IS

This hand-crocheted scarf is built from acrylic, mohair and silk worked together row by row. The mohair carries most of the surface texture, and the silk runs through for a little shine. It measures 20 cm (7.9 in) wide and 210 cm (82.7 in) long - long enough to wrap twice around the neck or hang loose over a coat. The shop lists it as unisex, built for cool spring days, autumn weather and mild winters.

WHAT GOES INTO IT

Eleven to fourteen hours, most of it in the tension.
Acrylic, mohair and silk are crocheted together by hand, row by row, and if one strand pulls tighter than the rest, the row shows it - over 210 cm, that has to hold the whole way.
Fifty percent of this scarf is acrylic. I am not pricing it as pure mohair-silk.
One scarf, one dye lot - there is no second one to spread those hours across.

HOW IT FEELS

The texture here comes mostly from mohair, which sits up in a soft, fuzzed halo rather than lying flat against the skin.
Mohair can read as more textured than plain acrylic. If your skin runs sensitive to wool-family fibres, you may notice it most where the mohair concentration is highest.
The silk threads running through add a little cool shine against the warmer fuzz of the mohair.
Worn with a collar or a thin layer underneath, it feels comfortable for a full day out.

MATERIALS

- 50% acrylic
- 37.5% mohair
- 12.5% silk

I print the full split because this scarf is exactly half plain acrylic and half mohair-silk. Rounding either side away would hide which part you are paying for.

SIZE

- Width: 20 cm (7.9 in)
- Length: 210 cm (82.7 in)

ONE PIECE ONLY

There is one of this, and when it goes the listing goes with it.
I do not restock and I do not repeat a colourway - partly by choice, partly because the yarn came from one dye lot and that lot is finished.
If you want something close, message me and we can talk about a commission. It will not be this one.

CARE

Hand wash only, lukewarm, pH-neutral wool detergent.
Squeeze gently, like kneading dough. Do not wring, twist or pull.
Dry flat on a towel, away from sun and radiators.
Brushed yarn sheds a little for the first week or two. That is the halo settling, not a fault. Shake it out and it stops.
If small bobbles appear where it rubs, lift them with a knitwear comb - never a razor.
Store folded and clean. Moths go for skin oils, not for the fibre, so put it away washed. Cedar in the drawer, not mothballs.
