What You Will Receive

You will receive one live grafted golden kiwi plant, shipped:

Bare root
Without soil
Without leaves
Carefully wrapped to help protect the roots during transportation

The plant may look dormant or resemble a simple stem when it arrives. This is completely normal for a bare-root plant. New leaves and shoots should begin developing after planting when temperatures and growing conditions are suitable.

Why Is the Plant Shipped Without Leaves or Soil?

Leaves are removed to reduce moisture loss through transpiration. This helps the plant conserve energy and experience less stress while in transit.

Soil is removed to reduce the risk of carrying insects, weeds, or soil-borne diseases. Bare-root shipping also keeps the package lighter, cleaner, and safer for agricultural transportation.

The outside of the roots may appear dry after shipping. A slightly dry or wrinkled appearance is normal for dormant bare-root plants and does not mean the plant is dead. Rehydrate the roots before planting and plant as soon as possible after delivery.

Planting Instructions
Carefully unpack the plant immediately after delivery.
Soak the roots in clean, room-temperature water for approximately 2–4 hours.
Choose a sunny location with fertile, well-draining soil.
Dig a hole wide enough to spread the roots naturally without bending them.
Keep the graft union above the soil line.
Backfill gently and press the soil around the roots to remove large air pockets.
Water thoroughly after planting.
Add a light layer of mulch, keeping it away from the stem.
Provide a strong trellis, fence, or arbor for support.
Growing Care
Sunlight: Full sun is recommended for healthy growth and fruit development.
Soil: Rich, well-draining soil with consistent moisture is ideal.
Watering: Keep the soil evenly moist during establishment, but avoid standing water.
Support: Kiwi vines are vigorous climbers and require a sturdy support system.
Pruning: Regular pruning improves airflow, controls growth, and supports future fruit production.
Cold Protection: Protect newly planted vines from severe frost, strong wind, and extreme temperature changes.
Important Pollination Note 🐝

Most kiwi varieties require a compatible male pollinator to produce fruit. Unless this listing specifically identifies the plant as self-fertile, we recommend planting a compatible male kiwi vine nearby. Flowering times must overlap for successful pollination.

Please Note

Plants are living products, so size, shape, root structure, and dormancy level may vary naturally. Seasonal conditions may affect the appearance of your plant. Fruit production is not immediate and depends on pollination, climate, sunlight, soil, watering, pruning, and overall care.
