Highlights
Freshly harvested stinging nettle rhizomes. Plant and grow your own nettle patch for fiber, spring greens, seeds, or tea leaves. Highly versatile and useful native plant!
Plant 1 to 2 inches below soil, high nitrogen content is preferred by stinging Nettles. A late summer/fall growth is possible depending on planting zone. Roots will spread and continue to grow and multiple.
Harvest young shoots in the spring, stalks for fiber in the summer, or seeds in the fall!

Rhizomes harvested from a live nettle patch in a natural forest setting. This patch on our property has been growing for years and I have harvested countless leaves, Nettle tops, seeds, and stalks for fiber. My daughter added 3 new baby goats, so I need to expand the goat yard. Luckily, I have been Nettle obsessed for decades, so I have quite a lot more (not everyone in the family loves this obsession!). So I am digging this patch up over the summer/fall and sharing here! Generally, roots are 1/4" to 3/4" in diameter, try to average 1/2" pieces. nettles will grow from the smallest rhizome left behind, but 6" sections have worked well for me in the past when transplanting.
In pots - order 6" rhizomes. Or 12" for larger pots. For a long garden box, the 24" root is ideal to cover more area.
Best in pots or boxes as they will spread!
