Highlights

  • Ships from Virginia! Shorter shipping distances are kinder to the planet

This large cauldron has a carving of a deer skull with long whimsical antlers wrapping around the sides and onto the handles. The exterior is matte black, with a glossy melting array of blues and greens inside. There is a small spot under one handle where the black did not fully cover, as seen in photos.

4.5" tall, holds 3 cups.

–—--ABOUT–—--
Welcome to Seven Spells, a one-witch-shop on a mountain top. Everything is made in a tiny home studio in a little old cottage, out in the rural countryside. The pottery and kiln all live outdoors on the covered deck, overlooking a sweeping view of the Blue Ridge, the sun and moonset, and all the wildlife visitors, including deer, foxes, and the occasional black bear.

All of my ceramic creations are thrown on a pottery wheel. They feature hand-sculpted accents and carvings, and are individually glazed by hand. Designs are applied freehand unless otherwise noted. Many other ceramics come out of a mold (which is perfectly great), but Seven Spells stands apart by providing a truly one-of-a-kind creation.

The process is just as magical as the pieces. Water mixes with earth to create the sculpture, and the mountain air dries the clay for several days. Finally, fire finishes the piece in a little kiln reaching temperatures over 2,000°F (1,090°C).

I use brown paper in packaging over plastic. Feel good about throwing it away, reusing it, or putting it in your compost!

–—--CARE–—--
Every piece of pottery in the shop is microwave, dishwasher, and food safe. Think of them just like you would any other dish in your cabinet. The cauldrons can withstand some heat, such as herb or petition paper burning, or allowing your sage to smolder. Some customers use the double-boiler method to create salves, or even brew tea in their cauldrons. However, it is not recommended to put your cauldron or coffee mugs directly on the stovetop or over an open flame - the uneven heating at high temperatures can cause your piece to break. Lastly, pottery is fragile, so avoid dropping or knocking off of edges!
