Seller's description

This listing is for a downloadable KNITTING PATTERN.

The pattern is a PDF that is made available immediately upon purchase.

This cute cowl neck mini dachshund sweater knitting pattern is a delight to knit up. The pattern comes with an option for cables, and is a unisex sweater. This fun project presents a unique opportunity to use up all those lovely scraps of fingering weight yarn that most knitters have collected over the years of knitting socks. These odd amounts of leftover yarn are typically not enough to complete any serious project but are too beautiful to throw away. Now is the time and place to use up those colorful bits of treasured yarn!

Before you begin this project, take a moment and look through your stash of leftover yarn. When selecting colors, choose something dark, something light, and something bright. Additional neutral colors can also be added such as beige, ivory, grey, brown, green, and pastel colors. It is a good idea to repeat a few of the same colors several times for continuity. Before you cast on, prearrange your colors in a sequence that is attractive to you. Avoid colors that dominate or clash with the rest. It is ok to use a bit of yarn that is fuzzier, rougher, or obviously different from the rest because this textural difference will add interest to the finished piece.

Yarn Weight: Fingering
Yardage: 400 yards/365 meters
Sweater Size: Perfect for a miniature Dachshund that is 9-14 lbs, with a chest measurement of 12-17
Gauge: 29 sts and 40 rows = 4”/ 10 cm in stockinette stitch on US size 2 (2.75 mm) needles

Please note: This is a dry weather doggie sweater, and it is not meant for rainstorms. Not only would such a garment, once soaked, fail to keep your dachshund warm, but knitted sweaters are also easily destroyed in wet, rainy weather. Even one episode of puddle hopping through muddy water can stretch out and ruin a knitted sweater. However, when used to warm up your dachshund on cold winter days indoors, as well as in reasonable weather outside, this garment will last for many years to come.

This is a great wee pattern that I have now knitted up three times. It was easy to adapt the pattern for different size dogs and will be my ‘go to’ for the next dog jumper we need.
