Named for the thin medieval blade of last mercies. A gothic cathedral window sits at the ear — pierced tracery and arches in blackened relief — and from it swings an ornate dagger, its blade grown over with engraved vinework, its guard curling like a rood screen. Oxidized recesses, polished edges. They move when you turn your head, and they catch the light like something drawn in a candlelit hall.
