A vanished flower of Donana's temporary ponds. The Drypool Star (Stellatia donianensis) opened one pale-wisteria star flush with the cracked ground — a hollow where it bloomed was known as ground that had long held water before it dried.
Entered in the Archive of Vanished Flora as Plate XXXIV — a printable specimen plate in the manner of a nineteenth-century herbarium, for gothic interiors and reading rooms.
