Step back into the whimsical world of early Japanese novelty collectibles with this charming group of eight vintage Japanese celluloid animal charms on their original celluloid ring. Dating to approximately the 1920s–1930s, these miniature figural charms are consistent with the novelty charms produced in Japan during the interwar period. Similar examples are often referred to by collectors as “Kobe” charms and were sold as inexpensive novelty items in dime stores and as promotional premiums. Complete groups that remain together on their original ring are increasingly difficult to find and are especially desirable to collectors of early celluloid, Japanese ephemera, and vintage novelty charms.

This set includes eight original miniature animal charms and the original ring:

* Yellow duck
* Yellow duck
* Greyhound
* Pink and white bird
* Green and yellow floral/tulip charm

One additional pale yellow duck charm has become detached but is included with the set.

📝 Condition

Good vintage condition with expected age-related wear, including light paint loss and surface wear consistent with nearly a century of age. One pale yellow duck has detached from the ring but is included. Please examine all photographs carefully, as they are part of the description.
