An Instacart shopper tax tracker built around the part of the job every other tracker ignores: your hour is split between shopping in the store and driving, and until you log those separately you cannot see what an hour of work actually pays.

Every batch gets one row, with shop time, drive time and wait time in their own columns. The dashboard then divides your net earnings by every hour you actually worked, not just the hours you spent driving. It also shows how your time splits across shopping, driving and waiting, and what each batch type pays per hour worked.

The mileage log gives you four separate fields, because the app's summary starts when the batch does:
• Miles driven to the store
• Miles from the store to the customer
• Miles driven between batches
• Miles driven home

Those four fields total your business miles and calculate the 2026 mileage deduction automatically. These are real fields and formulas in the included workbook, not marketing mockups.

What you get:
• 1 Excel workbook (.xlsx) with 8 tabs: Instructions, Dashboard, Batch Log, Mileage Log, Expenses, Quarterly Tax Center, AI Assistant, and Settings
• Batch Log with one row per batch: store, batch type, items, batch pay, heavy pay or bonus, tips, shop minutes, drive minutes, wait minutes, miles, total pay, hours worked, and pay per hour worked
• Dashboard split of shopping, driving and waiting hours, with each one's share of your time and average minutes per batch
• True pay per hour calculated on all time worked, alongside what the same earnings would look like if only drive time were counted
• Pay-per-hour comparison across full service, delivery only, curbside pickup, and multi-store batches
• Four-part mileage log for to-the-store, store-to-customer, between-batch, and home miles
• Batch pay, heavy pay or bonus, and tips kept as separate inputs, with a plain note that customers can change a tip after delivery
• Shopper-specific expense categories: insulated bags and coolers, phone and data, phone mount and charger, cart and shopping gear, parking, tolls, supplies and printing, and other non-vehicle costs
• Dashboard with net earnings, total business miles, mileage deduction, expenses, taxable-profit estimate, tax set-aside, next deadline, and charts
• AI Assistant tab with six copy-paste prompts that auto-fill with your own workbook numbers, including a shop-time-versus-drive-time review and a batch-mix and tip-adjustment review
• 2026 IRS business mileage rate stored in one Settings cell with its dated IRS newsroom source
• Four 2026 estimated-tax deadlines
• Adjustable tax set-aside percentage and quarterly estimates
• Real sample data on every log
• Protected formula cells; unprotect anytime with no password
• 1 visual quick-start guide in 300 DPI PNG and one-page PDF formats

How it works:

1. Download the zip and open the .xlsx in Excel, or import it into Google Sheets.
2. Clear the sample input cells and enter your own batches, minutes, miles, and non-vehicle expenses.
3. Your totals, charts, hours split, mileage deduction, taxable-profit estimate, deadlines, and set-aside estimate update automatically.
4. When you want a second look at your records, copy a prompt from the AI Assistant tab into your preferred chatbot.

About the batch miles column: the Batch Log has a miles field so you can compare batches against each other. Your tax deduction is calculated only from the Mileage Log's four fields, so nothing is counted twice. Both tabs say so on the sheet.

Important mileage-method note: Use either the standard mileage deduction or actual car costs such as gas, repairs, and depreciation, not both. This tracker's tax estimate uses income minus non-vehicle expenses minus the mileage deduction, so it does not double-count vehicle costs.

AI Assistant privacy: The prompts run only after you copy and paste them into a chatbot such as ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini. The spreadsheet does not connect to an AI service, and no workbook data is sent to us. A chatbot account or its normal usage limits may apply. Each prompt asks for patterns, questions, and records to review; it does not state a tax or financial conclusion.

Who it is for: Instacart shoppers who want one self-serve place to track batch pay, tips, in-store time, driving time, every business mile, expenses, and quarterly tax-planning figures.

Honest limits: This is a ready-made digital template delivered as an instant download. No physical product ships. It is not customized or personalized. It does not connect to Instacart, your bank, or GPS; import batches automatically; track your miles for you; verify whether a mile or expense qualifies; file taxes; calculate a personalized tax liability; or replace contemporaneous mileage records and receipts. It is not tax, legal, or financial advice. Tax rules and eligibility depend on your situation; confirm filing decisions with current IRS instructions or a qualified tax professional. Instacart is a trademark of Maplebear Inc.; this independent product is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by that company. Because it is a digital file, no refunds once downloaded, per shop policy.
