A green and ivory checkerboard, worked square by square, with fringe hanging heavy at both ends.

WHAT IT IS

This crochet scarf is worked in a green and ivory checkerboard, from a brushed blend of acrylic, wool and a touch of alpaca. It runs 200 cm (78.7 in) long and 21 cm (8.2 in) wide. That is long enough to wrap twice around the neck, with fringe dropping from both ends. Every square of the pattern is turned and joined by hand, row by row.

WHAT GOES INTO IT

Eleven to fourteen hours, most of it the checkerboard.
Every square is turned and joined by hand, kept straight across the full 200 cm, then the fringe is knotted in by hand, strand by strand, at both ends.
Sixty percent acrylic, thirty wool, ten alpaca. That is what went into it.
One scarf, this dye lot, and the lot is gone - the hours do not spread across a second run.

HOW IT FEELS

The brushed surface makes this soft against the neck rather than slick or scratchy.
It has enough weight to stay wrapped without sliding, and enough give to loop twice without pulling tight.
Warm, but not heavy - built for layering under a coat, not for one specific chill.

MATERIALS

- 60% acrylic
- 30% wool
- 10% alpaca

I print the whole split because acrylic is most of this scarf, and you should know that before you buy, not after.

SIZE

- Width: 21 cm (8.2 in)
- Length: 200 cm (78.7 in)

ONE PIECE ONLY

There is one of this, and when it goes the listing goes with it.
I do not restock and I do not repeat a colourway - partly by choice, partly because the yarn came from one dye lot and that lot is finished.
If you want something close, message me and we can talk about a commission. It will not be this one.

CARE

Hand wash only, lukewarm, pH-neutral wool detergent.
Squeeze gently, like kneading dough. Do not wring, twist or pull.
Dry flat on a towel, away from sun and radiators.
Brushed yarn sheds a little for the first week or two. That is the halo settling, not a fault. Shake it out and it stops.
If small bobbles appear where it rubs, lift them with a knitwear comb - never a razor.
Store folded and clean. Moths go for skin oils, not for the fibre, so put it away washed. Cedar in the drawer, not mothballs.

ORDER INFO

MADE TO ORDER? No. This one exists. It is finished, photographed and in my hands. It ships as it is.

PROCESSING
I pack and post within 1-2 business days, Monday to Friday.

SHIPPING FROM POLAND
Sent from Wroclaw, tracked, every parcel. Inside the EU there are no customs charges and nothing is collected at the door.

RETURNS
30 days from delivery. Not the 14 the law asks of me - 30.
Send it back unworn and I refund the item in full. Return postage is yours unless it arrived damaged or not as described, in which case it is mine.
Hand-made does not mean final sale. I would rather it came back than sat in a drawer.

QUESTIONS BEFORE YOU BUY
Message me. If you want a photo of it next to a tape measure, or held against a coat you already own, ask and I will send one. More information can be found https://zaikalabel.com/
