Mesh stripes in five different yarns, fringe swinging loose at the cuffs.

This handmade crochet crop top is built stripe by stripe from five yarns - acrylic, polyester, alpaca, mohair and silk. It is worked into an open knit mesh with long, oversized sleeves. The top is cropped at 38 cm long and 48 cm across the body, with 42 cm sleeves. The patchwork of textures and dangling fringe give it the look of a one-of-a-kind pullover rather than a repeat pattern.

WHAT GOES INTO IT

Ten to sixteen hours, and five yarns account for most of it.
Every stripe changes tension and stitch by hand, the mesh is worked open across 48 cm, and the fringe is knotted and trimmed length by length, not machine cut.
Eighty percent of this is acrylic and polyester - not alpaca, and I am not pricing it as if it were.
I made exactly one of this. There is no second run to spread those hours across.

HOW IT FEELS

Mixed yarns make a mixed hand. It feels smoother where the acrylic and polyester carry a stripe, a little fuzzier where the mohair shows, and a faint sheen where the silk sits.
Most of what touches your skin here is not wool, so it feels soft rather than scratchy.
The open mesh sections let air move through, so it layers over a tank or shirt rather than sitting heavy on its own.
The small amount of alpaca and silk add a little warmth and shine to a few stripes, not the whole piece.

SIZE

- Length: 38 cm (15.0 in)
- Width: 48 cm (18.9 in)
- Sleeve length: 42 cm (16.5 in)

ONE PIECE ONLY

There is one of this, and when it goes the listing goes with it.
I do not restock and I do not repeat a colourway - partly by choice, partly because the yarn came from one dye lot and that lot is finished.
If you want something close, message me and we can talk about a commission. It will not be this one.

CARE

Hand wash only, lukewarm, pH-neutral wool detergent.
Squeeze gently, like kneading dough. Do not wring, twist or pull.
Dry flat on a towel, away from sun and radiators.
Brushed yarn sheds a little for the first week or two. That is the halo settling, not a fault. Shake it out and it stops.
If small bobbles appear where it rubs, lift them with a knitwear comb - never a razor.
Store folded and clean. Moths go for skin oils, not for the fibre, so put it away washed. Cedar in the drawer, not mothballs.

SHIPPING FROM POLAND
Sent from Wroclaw, tracked, every parcel. Inside the EU there are no customs charges and nothing is collected at the door.

RETURNS
30 days from delivery. Not the 14 the law asks of me - 30.
Send it back unworn and I refund the item in full. Return postage is yours unless it arrived damaged or not as described, in which case it is mine.
Hand-made does not mean final sale. I would rather it came back than sat in a drawer.

Message me. If you want a photo of it next to a tape measure, or held against a coat you already own, ask and I will send one. More information can be found https://zaikalabel.com/
