Most business owners chase down sales numbers in email, receipts, and memory. This spreadsheet makes it simple: log a sale once (customer, date, what you sold, quantity, price), and the row total calculates itself. The Summary tab shows you revenue broken down by month and by customer at a glance.

WHAT YOU GET (4 connected tabs)

START HERE: A one-page walkthrough of the whole workbook (what to fill in, what to leave alone, and exactly how to clear the example data when you're ready).

SETTINGS: Your business name, currency symbol, and sales tax or VAT rate, entered once. Sales and Summary read their values from this sheet; nothing is hardcoded anywhere else. Change the currency symbol and every header and total on the other tabs follows automatically.

SALES: Every sale you log, one row each. Date, customer, description of what you sold, quantity, unit price, and line amount (formula). The customer dropdown is yours to edit. 200 rows ready for your entries, and every row total is a formula, so nothing gets missed.

SUMMARY: A complete overview with nothing to type. Shows total revenue, number of sales, average order value, and a breakdown by month and by customer. Everything is a formula feeding from Sales, so it updates the moment you add a row.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Open Settings and fill in your business name, currency symbol and sales tax rate (once).
2. Go to Sales, add a row for each sale: date, customer, what you sold, quantity and unit price. The row total calculates itself.
3. Check Summary any time. Total revenue, number of sales, average per order, and the breakdown by month and by customer. All formulas, nothing to type.

WHAT YOU NEED

Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets with no macros, no add-ins, and no other software required. Colored cells are the only ones you ever touch; white cells are formulas. Nothing in this workbook is locked or password-protected, so you're always free to inspect or adjust a formula if you want to.

A note on Google Sheets: every formula in this workbook was checked individually and uses only functions Google Sheets also supports. No XLOOKUP, no dynamic arrays, nothing Excel-only. Upload it to Drive and open it with Google Sheets, not in Drive's preview window: the preview doesn't calculate, so a working file looks broken there. I build and test in Excel, so I won't promise you a pixel-perfect Sheets import. The customer dropdown on Sales and the date format in column B are worth a quick look after import, since the two programs render them differently.

WHAT THIS ISN'T

Not accounting software and not business forecasting. This is a spreadsheet that logs and totals what has already happened. It doesn't predict future revenue, connect to your bank, or replace a bookkeeper. The breakdown by customer is only a tally of what you marked in the sale entry; it doesn't do profit-per-customer analysis or account for expenses. Not a subscription.
