Cotton mesh, open and airy, striped with soft faux fur that catches the light.

This hand-crocheted crop sweater is worked in 90% cotton with 10% polyester. The open mesh stitch is built into a cropped, oversized-sleeve silhouette. Soft faux fur stripes run through the mesh for texture and visual depth without weighing the piece down. It measures 38 cm (15.0 in) in length and 60 cm (23.6 in) across the body, with sleeves running 40 cm (15.7 in) long.

WHAT GOES INTO IT

Ten to sixteen hours, and most of that time is the mesh, not the yarn.
Every row of this open stitch is placed by hand, and the faux fur stripes are crocheted apart, then set into the mesh without pulling it out of shape - two builds, not one.
Ninety percent cotton, ten percent polyester, both printed on the label because both are true.
One sweater, 38 cm long and 60 cm across the body - there is no second run to spread those hours across.

HOW IT FEELS

Cotton mesh has a light, slightly dry hand, crisp rather than soft.
It has enough give in the open stitch that it never clings.
The faux fur stripes are plush under the fingers, a soft contrast against the crisper mesh around them.
It sits close to weightless on the body and layers easily over a cami or long sleeve.
Expect texture and structure rather than stretch - this is not a clingy knit.

I do not restock and I do not repeat a colourway - partly by choice, partly because the yarn came from one dye lot and that lot is finished.
If you want something close, message me and we can talk about a commission. It will not be this one.

CARE

Hand wash cool, or machine on a wool cycle in a mesh bag. Mild detergent, no bleach.
Do not wring. Reshape while damp and dry flat.
Cool iron on the reverse if you want the mesh to sit flat.
Cotton softens with every wash and creases honestly. Both are the point.
Spot clean the fur rather than soaking it. Once dry, brush the pile back up with a soft brush or a wide-tooth comb - it flattens when wet and it comes back.
No heat, no tumble dryer. Heat is the one thing faux fur does not survive.
