Vintage Sola Stainless Steel Tea Strainer Spoon, Dutch 1960s, Unused in Box
Item highlights
Seller's description
A mid-century Dutch tea strainer spoon by Sola (Nederlandsche Zilverfabriek Sola, Zeist, Netherlands), unused and still in its original maker's box.
WHAT IT IS
An oval-bowled spoon with a hinged perforated cover that swings across the bowl. You fill the bowl with loose leaf, close the pierced cover, and steep it directly in the cup or pot - then lift it out and the wet leaves stay enclosed, so nothing drips on the tablecloth.
MATERIAL AND MARKS
Solid stainless steel, high polish. The box lid is printed SOLA MASSIEF / Wit als Zilver - Dutch for 'solid / white as silver', the line Sola used for its solid stainless flatware. It is therefore stainless steel, not silver and not silver plate, and it will never tarnish. A small maker's stamp is struck on the reverse of the handle; it is genuine but faint and not sharply legible. The handle carries a discreet stylised leaf relief at the neck.
DIMENSIONS
Approx. 17 cm / 6.7 in overall length, as stated by the previous owner.
CONDITION - PLEASE READ
The spoon itself is unused: bright, unscratched, no dents, not bent, the cover swings freely, no rust or pitting. All wear is on the packaging, and it is genuine age wear:
- the linen-textured lid is lightly soiled and rubbed along edges and corners
- the turquoise flocked insert has a split at one corner where the backing board has separated
- the base tray shows small crushes and a slight bow, and the original oval retaining flap is creased
The box is offered as period packaging, not as a mint collector's box. You receive spoon and box together.
STYLING AND USE
Still fully usable for loose leaf tea. It also makes a small, honest gift for a tea drinker, or a quiet detail on an open shelf, a tea tray or a bar cart beside a teapot. One of a kind - only one available.

Weiterhin voll benutzbar fuer losen Tee.
