Original Vintage Soviet TTsKO Butan Camo Suit Set USSR Tactical Cloth Set used by Marine Corps & Airborne Forces, Naval Infantry VDV Surplus

HISTORY

The TTsKO camouflage uniform, short for Tryokhtsvetnaya Kamuflirovannaya Odezhda or “three-color camouflage clothing,” entered Soviet military service in the early 1980s. The pattern is also commonly known as Butan, while in Ukraine similar camouflage became known as Dubok.

TTsKO uniforms were primarily associated with elite Soviet units, including the VDV Airborne Forces and Naval Infantry, also known as the Soviet Marine Corps. Early examples were reportedly issued in limited quantities during the Soviet–Afghan War, particularly to officers, aircrew and specialized personnel.

After the collapse of the USSR, TTsKO camouflage continued to appear throughout the former Soviet republics. It was worn by Russian Naval Infantry and other military formations during the conflicts of the 1990s, including the First Chechen War. Modernized variations of this camouflage pattern were also used by the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

This particular uniform is associated with the Black Sea Fleet Naval Infantry, making it an interesting collectible for enthusiasts of Soviet military history, naval equipment and Cold War-era camouflage.
