• Pilzstein (Maya Mushroomstones) aus Sandstein, handgemacht image 1
  • May include: A small, light brown, carved stone sculpture shaped like a mushroom with a rounded cap and a thick, cylindrical stem. The sculpture has a smooth, matte texture and sits upright, displaying natural variations in the stone's color and grain.
  • May include: A brown, carved stone mushroom figurine with a textured cap and stem, positioned next to a wooden ruler. The ruler indicates the mushroom stands approximately 4.5 inches tall, showing clear markings in inches along its vertical edge.
  • May include: A collection of grey stone sculptures shaped like mushrooms, featuring carved human and animal faces on the stems. The text below reads: A few of the estimated two hundred mushroom stones that escaped destruction, despite the concerted efforts of misdirected Catholic missionaries. The smaller mushroom stones are the ones found with metates, which were presumably used for grinding the sacraments prior to use (Borhegi 1961).
