Highlights

  • Materials: vinyl, matte vinyl, weatherproof vinyl, die cut vinyl

The Declaration of Independence said it first: "He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power." This Declaration of Independence sticker prints Grievance No. XII verbatim — a 1776 letterpress broadside for your laptop, and not one word of commentary added.

THE DESIGN
Grievance No. XII is set in a bold slab serif in federal navy on an aged laid-paper field, inside a fine engraved double-rule frame with a printer's fleuron, an "IN CONGRESS, JULY 4, 1776" kicker, and a vermilion rule. The clause appears complete and unaltered, down to the original lowercase "power" and its full stop. Print the document. Say nothing. Let the reader do the work.

THE STICKER
• Durable weatherproof vinyl with a kiss-cut edge — peels clean, sticks flat
• UV-laminated to resist sun fading and scratches
• Water-resistant: fine on water bottles, laptops, journals, toolboxes, and car windows
• Apply to any clean, dry, smooth surface

WHO IT'S FOR
A sharp small gift for civics teachers, history buffs, veterans, poli-sci students, and anyone who believes civilian control of the military is not a suggestion. Part of our Grievances of 1776 collection — the founders' own complaints, reprinted exactly as filed.

Artwork created with AI assistance, then reviewed and finished by hand in our studio.
