Original 1969 Department of the Army citation "By Direction of the President" awarding the Bronze Star Medal to Captain David R. Coffin, service number 05244956, Armor Branch, United States Army. The citation states he distinguished himself by outstandingly meritorious service in connection with military operations against a hostile force in the Republic of Vietnam during the period December 1968 to June 1969, praising his exemplary professionalism, rapid assessment of combat problems, sound judgment, and devotion to duty.
