Most CV templates make you choose: something that looks designed, or something a
computer can actually read. These are built to be both — six coloured layouts
with a photo, and not one table, text box or column anywhere in them.

THE PHOTO QUESTION — WHY YOU GET BOTH VERSIONS

Whether to include a photo is not a style choice. It depends on the country:

· Germany, Austria, Switzerland — expected. A CV without one looks incomplete.
· Turkey, the Middle East, much of Asia — normal and expected.
· France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Greece — common, safe either way.
· Netherlands, Belgium, the Nordics, Poland — optional.
· United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Ireland — leave it off.

In the English-speaking markets many recruiting teams are told to reject or
redact any CV carrying a photo, so nobody can later claim a decision was made on
appearance. It isn't about how you look — the photo simply creates a problem the
employer would rather not have.

So every layout comes twice. Same colours, same fonts, same structure: one with
a photo, one without. Send the right file and stop guessing.

WHAT YOU GET — 14 FILES

Six designs, each supplied with and without a photo (12 .docx files):

· Sienna — Georgia headings, terracotta rules, circular photo. Warm and classic,
the safe default if you're unsure.
· Harbour — solid navy section bands, photo and name to the left. The most
corporate of the six; finance, operations, consulting.
· Laurel — Garamond throughout, headings centred between two olive rules.
Quiet and editorial; academia, law, publishing.
· Meridian — Trebuchet, teal bar down the left of every heading, the largest
photo. Modern and clean; tech, product, marketing.
· Claret — burgundy dotted rules, square photo, wide-spaced capitals.
Distinctive without being loud.
· Graphite — Verdana with amber square markers and no rules at all. The most
legible of the six if your history is long and dense.

Plus:
· Start Here guide (.pdf) — the photo question by country, how to swap the
photo, what photo to use, what to leave alone, and how to write bullets that
get you interviewed.
· Plain text version (.txt) — for application forms that strip formatting.

Etsy limits a listing to five download slots, so the twelve layouts arrive
together in one zip, sorted into With_Photo and No_Photo folders. The guide and
the Sienna layout (both versions) download on their own, so you can start
without unzipping anything.

DOES A PHOTO BREAK ATS PARSING?

Not by itself. The image sits in its own paragraph and holds no text, so a
parser simply ignores it — and every detail it needs is real text in the body of
the document, not inside the picture.

What genuinely breaks parsing is text inside an image, or in a header, a text
box, a table cell, or a second column. None of those are in these files.

Four structural choices do the work, and none of them are visible to the human
reading your CV:

· Single column. Two columns get read straight across, so your sentences
interleave into nonsense.
· Contact details in the body, not the page header. Many systems never read the
header region at all.
· Dates on a tab stop, not in a table. Table cells get flattened into one
unreadable string.
· Real bullet list formatting. A typed bullet character is a symbol; a list is
structure, and structure is what gets read.

The coloured bands and rules are paragraph formatting, not shapes — which is why
they survive.

IT TELLS YOU WHAT TO WRITE

Every section carries a prompt in grey italic text explaining what belongs
there. Replace it with your own words and it turns black. When nothing grey is
left, the CV is finished.

HOW TO EDIT

1. Open in Microsoft Word, or upload to Google Docs (File → Open → Upload).
Also opens in Pages and LibreOffice.
2. Right-click the photo → Change Picture (Replace image in Google Docs).
Crop your photo to a square first — the placeholder is square, and Word will
squash anything that isn't.
3. Replace the grey prompts with your own details.
4. Delete any section that doesn't apply, then save as PDF.

No Canva, no subscription, no design app.

❓ FREQUENTLY ASKED

Do I need Microsoft Word?
No. Google Docs opens and edits them for free, and so do Pages and LibreOffice.

Can I change the colours and fonts?
Yes, freely. Keep the four structural rules in the guide and change everything
else.

What photo should I use?
Head and shoulders, plain background, daylight from in front of you, at least
600×600 pixels. The guide has a full do-and-don't list. You don't need a
professional shoot — a phone, a window and a plain wall gets you most of the way.

Will this guarantee my CV passes the filter?
No honest seller can promise that. Filters differ, and what you write matters as
much as the format. What these remove are the structural reasons a CV fails
before anyone reads it.

Can I resell or share these?
No. They're for your own job applications.

When do I get the files?

WHAT THIS IS NOT

It won't write your CV for you, it can't invent your experience, and no template
can promise you interviews. It is also not a two-column "designer" layout — that
is deliberate, and the reason these parse.
