THE COLUMN THAT CHANGES A ROUND

Per hour on site is the price you quoted. Per hour with driving is the price of your day. In the worked example, Willow House pays $23.33 on site and $18.92 once you have driven forty-two minutes each way. Nice people, long way.

That is not a reason to feel bad about a client. It is a price that has not been looked at since you took them on — and there are four honest answers: raise it, cluster the round, change what the job includes, or hand them to someone who lives nearer.

FILL IT IN FROM THE VAN

Six numbers, two minutes, before you drive off. Save the file to Google Sheets and it works on a phone. Doing it on Sunday from memory produces numbers that look right and are not.

- No invoices and no quotes. There is a Paid? column and an outstanding total, so you know who to chase. Sending is still you.
- It does not schedule anything. The Week Planner is a drawing of your round, not a calendar.
- Mileage is at the rate you type. Rules differ by country and change; nothing here is tax advice.
- One person or a small team. No staff rota, no wages, no holiday cover.
- It will not fill itself in. Two minutes per job, in the van.
