HOW IT WORKS

1. Cross out every word from the case's list that appears in the grid. Words run
across, down and diagonally, forwards and backwards.

2. One word on the list is nowhere in the grid. That missing word is your first
piece of evidence.

3. Now look at the letters no word touched. Read them left to right, top to
bottom — they spell out the remaining two answers.

4. Name the CULPRIT, the MEANS and the DECK — who did it, how, and where aboard
ship. Case closed.

The letter boxes under each case tell you how long every answer must be, so there
is exactly one way the evidence fits together. No guessing. No ambiguity.
