Three surfers sit quietly on their boards, watching a long blue wave rise across the horizon in this sunlit ocean print.

The figures are spread across the lower half of the composition, each on a different colored board. Coral, yellow and pale turquoise break up the blue water without pulling attention away from the approaching swell.

The scene is about the pause before the ride rather than the action itself. All three surfers face the same direction, waiting for the wave and giving the image the calm, observant feeling of a real lineup.

Broad painterly marks shape the water, sky and clouds. The sea shifts from deep blue in the foreground to lighter turquoise farther out, while the upper half stays open with pale clouds and soft summer light.

The horizon remains simple, with only a distant strip of land behind the wave. That open spacing keeps the artwork airy and gives the group of surfers plenty of room inside the composition.
