SILVER BAY AGLAONEMA
Aglaonema ‘Silver Bay’ • Chinese Evergreen

LUMINOUS SILVER, FRAMED IN BOTANICAL GREEN

Soft silver centers framed by deep green margins give Silver Bay Aglaonema its luminous, layered appearance. Broad leaves unfold into a composed canopy of silver, sage and forest green, bringing a quiet richness to a living room, workspace or carefully curated indoor collection.

This Chinese Evergreen offers substantial foliage without visual heaviness. Its cool-toned patterning pairs beautifully with simple planters and warm natural materials, while upright growth gradually develops a fuller, bushier presence. The plant has the scale to become a focal point and the restrained palette to remain beautifully integrated into its surroundings.

THE SILVER BAY LEAF

The silver is concentrated through the center of the blade, bordered by deeper green that preserves the outline of each leaf. Between those areas, irregular green markings soften the transition, giving the foliage more detail than a simple two-tone division.

As leaves overlap, the pale centers gather into a luminous canopy while darker margins separate the individual shapes. New foliage introduces another arrangement of silver and green, creating depth within a palette that remains calm and cohesive.

Viewed closely, each leaf has its own proportions and pattern. Viewed as a whole, an established Silver Bay becomes a generous tropical composition whose colors complement rather than compete with one another.

FROM UPRIGHT GROWTH TO A FULLER CLUMP

Silver Bay develops an upright, clumping habit. New leaves emerge within the growing canopy, and basal shoots can gradually add further foliage around established growth. The result becomes fuller and more layered over time while retaining the broad-leaved character of the cultivar.

Allow room for the leaves to open naturally. A younger plant reveals more of the relationship between stems and individual leaves; an established specimen gathers that structure into a more substantial display. Well-rooted basal growth can eventually be divided when the plant is ready, offering another way to continue a mature collection.

A CULTIVAR WITH A CULTIVATED HISTORY

Silver Bay was developed through the University of Florida foliage-plant breeding program and released in 1992. Its enduring appeal brings together distinctive foliage, a full growth habit and suitability for indoor settings. This is a cultivated hybrid selected for its ornamental qualities, rather than a wild species offered under a decorative name.

In a collection, its cooler tones make an especially beautiful companion to burgundy foliage, finely patterned nerve plants or narrow, upright leaves. Displayed alone, a simple container lets the silver centers and green outlines carry the entire composition.

CARE FOR BEAUTIFUL FOLIAGE

Light
Moderate to bright, indirect light suits Silver Bay. It tolerates lower indoor light, though growth is generally slower. Keep the foliage out of prolonged harsh direct sun.

Water and root care
Allow the upper portion of the mix to begin drying, then water thoroughly and drain excess water. Use a loose, aerated houseplant mix in a container with drainage. Check moisture through the pot and adjust watering to the light and temperature rather than following a fixed schedule.

Warmth and humidity
Maintain comfortable indoor warmth, protected from frost, cold drafts and sudden temperature changes. Ordinary household humidity is generally suitable; moderate humidity and gentle airflow support attractive foliage.

Upkeep
Gently wipe dusty leaves to reveal their natural finish. Feed during active growth according to the fertilizer label and repot when the root system genuinely needs more room.

YOUR SELECTION

Choose your preferred size from the dropdown. Each purchase is for one live Silver Bay Aglaonema in the selected option. Our photographs show the character and development of our stock; your plant will have its own silver pattern, leaf arrangement and fullness.

Your plant will be inspected and carefully packaged. Unpack promptly, check the growing medium and allow it to settle in suitable indirect light before repotting or major care changes.

For ornamental use only. Aglaonema contains calcium oxalate crystals; keep away from pets and children who may chew or ingest foliage. Avoid contact with sap when pruning.
