Seller's description

Specifications

May include: A vintage hardcover book with a deep red cover featuring intricate gold-colored filigree and floral patterns. The title 'Palmblätter' is embossed in a decorative gothic-style font across the center of the front cover.

Bring classic 19th century European elegance and history to your library with this antique illustrated edition of Palmblatter (Palm Leaves) by Karl Gerok, published in Philadelphia by German American publisher I. Kohler and Sohne.

Written in traditional German Fraktur gothic script, this celebrated collection of religious poetry and devotional verse is filled with charming woodcut vignettes, decorative initial letters, and full page religious engravings, including a striking frontispiece depicting Jesus on the water.

The volume is bound in an ornate Victorian deep red cloth binding featuring intricate gilded scrolls, geometric floral borders, and rich gilt titling on the cover and spine.

Inside the front flyleaf is a handwritten antique dedication in traditional German Kurrent script to Emma Meyer.

The binding exhibits authentic antique shelf wear, surface rubbing along the front board and spine, and separation starting along the front inner hinge, while the interior pages remain complete, clean, and bound.

A wonderful display piece for dark academia styling, antique book collections, or German Americana ephemera.
