Beeswax Sheets for Candle Rolling 24x20cm | 100% Pure Wax From Our Own Hives | Small Candles, Beekeeping, Free Shipping

Seller's description

Rolling a candle is the one kind of candle making that needs no melting, no pouring and no equipment. You warm a sheet in your hands for a minute, lay the wick along the edge and roll. Two minutes later you are holding a candle that smells faintly of honey.

These are our own sheets, pressed from wax out of our father's hives in Podillya, central Ukraine. He has kept bees for thirty five years. Nothing is added to the wax, no bleach, no paraffin, no fragrance.

THE NUMBERS

Sheet size 24 x 20 cm, about 9.4 x 7.9 inches.
Weight about 63 g per sheet.
Colour ranges from pale cream to warm gold depending on the season the wax came from. It is not dyed, so batches differ.
Standard honeycomb embossing on both sides.

WHAT PEOPLE DO WITH THEM

One sheet rolls into a candle about 20 cm tall and finger thick. Roll two together and you get a proper dinner candle. Cut a sheet diagonally and it rolls into a taper. Children can do it at a kitchen table with an adult nearby, no heat involved.

Beekeepers use the same sheets as starter strips in small frames and in nucs.

WHY BEESWAX AND NOT PARAFFIN

Paraffin is a petroleum product. It burns with soot, drips fast and softens in a warm room. Beeswax burns slower, holds its shape and smells of the hive it came from, because that is where it came from.

WHICH PACK TO PICK

Six sheets is enough to try it and make a few small candles. Twelve is the usual gift or workshop size. Twenty four suits someone who rolls regularly. Forty eight is for a market stall or a class.

HOW TO ROLL

Warm the sheet with a hairdryer or just your hands for a minute, it should bend without cracking. Lay a length of cotton wick along one short edge with about a centimetre sticking out the top. Fold the edge over the wick, press it down, then roll firmly and evenly to the end. Press the last edge flat with your thumb. That is it.

If a sheet cracks, it is too cold. Warm it a little longer.

SHIPPING

Ships from Ukraine with a tracking number. Free to the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom and the European Union. Sheets travel flat between two pieces of card in a rigid box, which is the only way they arrive unbroken.
