STUDENT LOAN PAYOFF, INCOME-DRIVEN PAYMENT AND FORGIVENESS PROGRESS TRACKER

🎁 FREE BONUS INCLUDED — Extra-Payment + Interest-Saved Planner (a $19 value): shows your payoff date and the interest you'd save from extra payments. Yours free with this template.

Every debt payoff template treats a student loan as a debt with a rate.

It is not.

It has a payment linked to your income, a forgiveness count nobody can tell you off the top of their head, a recertification deadline that changes your payment if you ignore it, and a possible tax bill at the far end. No generic snowball calculator models a single one of those.

This one models all four, on your own loans.

WHAT'S INCLUDED
16 connected tabs, 22,080 working formulas, room for up to 9 loans - federal and private together in one file.

- Dashboard - eight tiles and seven plain-English lines that read your own numbers back to you
- Start Here - the whole routine on one page
- Settings - every rate, threshold, guideline figure, payment count and tax rate, all in yellow boxes you fill in
- Loans - one row per loan, with your weighted blended rate and payoff order worked out for you
- Payment Log - 200 rows for what you paid, what was extra, and whether the month counted
- Strategy Compare - avalanche, snowball and doing nothing, side by side
- Avalanche Plan, Snowball Plan, Minimum Only - the month-by-month workings behind those three columns
- IDR Estimator - discretionary income through to an estimated payment, built only from figures you type
- Forgiveness Counter - 180 months, one row each, with an override on every single one
- Employment Log - employers, dates, forms sent, answers received
- Recert and Deadlines - a countdown plus a ladder of dates at 90, 60, 30 and 7 days
- Forgiveness Tax - what might be forgiven, what it might cost, and a 60-month savings plan for it
- Refinance Check - one private offer priced against everything you would be giving up
- Lists - every dropdown, editable

THE FOUR THINGS IT DOES THAT NOTHING ELSE DOES

1. AVALANCHE VS SNOWBALL, PRICED ON YOUR LOANS
Not a rule of thumb - a full month-by-month simulation of both, plus a minimum-only baseline so the other two have something to beat. It tells you which is cheaper, by how much, which loan you attack first, and when your first loan disappears under each plan. Change one balance or one rate and all three redraw.

2. AN INCOME-DRIVEN PAYMENT ESTIMATOR THAT ASKS THE REAL QUESTION
It walks from counted income to protected income to discretionary income to an estimated payment - and then asks the question no calculator asks: does that payment even cover your interest? If it does not, it tells you exactly how much your balance grows every month while you pay on time.

3. A FORGIVENESS COUNTER WITH AN OVERRIDE ON EVERY MONTH
180 monthly rows. Mark whether you made a payment and whether you were in qualifying employment. The sheet suggests whether the month counts, you can force it either way, and a running count builds down the column. Forbearance months, missed payments and non-qualifying stretches show up in red - which is how you find out before your servicer's count and yours disagree by two years.

4. THE TAX BILL NOBODY WARNS YOU ABOUT
If a balance is eventually forgiven and that is taxed where you live, it lands as a bill in one tax year. This tab projects your balance forward at the payment you actually expect to make, applies the tax rates you enter, and builds a monthly savings plan with a 60-month schedule that ticks over to covered.

NOTHING IN THIS FILE IS HARDCODED
This is the part that matters. Every threshold, percentage, poverty-guideline figure, required payment count and tax rate is a clearly-labelled yellow input cell on the Settings tab. The workbook does no lookups and states no program rule as fact - because programs change every year and a baked-in figure turns into a file you have to throw away. When yours changes, you change one yellow box and the whole workbook recalculates.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Open Settings. Your name, today's date, the first month of your plan, and the extra you can put toward loans each month
2. Open Loans. One row per loan - nickname, servicer, type, balance, rate, minimum payment. All six are on your servicer's website
3. Back to Settings for the income-driven figures and your program's required payment count. Look each of them up for your plan and this year
4. Work down the Forgiveness Counter with your bank statements. Twenty minutes buys you a number nobody can hand you
5. After that: one row a month on the Payment Log, one on the Counter, a glance at the Dashboard

COMPATIBILITY
- Microsoft Excel - Windows and Mac, 2016 onwards
- Google Sheets - upload to Drive and open, or File then Import
- Apple Numbers and LibreOffice Calc
- No array formulas, no macros, no add-ons, no subscription. Formula cells are protected, input cells are open
- Works entirely offline. Nothing connects to your servicer and nothing leaves your computer

WHAT YOU GET
One .xlsx file, instantly downloadable, with realistic sample data already filled in so you can see every feature working before you clear it and put your own numbers in.

IMPORTANT
This is a spreadsheet, not financial or tax advice, and not affiliated with any lender, servicer or program. It holds your own figures and shows you what they add up to. Your servicer's numbers are the official ones - use this to notice when the two disagree, which is exactly when it is worth a phone call. Check anything that matters with your servicer or a qualified professional.

Instant download. Yours forever. Free lifetime updates.

ReadySheetGo - spreadsheets that actually do the work.

📗 HOW TO OPEN IN GOOGLE SHEETS (free & easy):

2. Click File ▸ Import ▸ Upload
3. Drag in the .xlsx file you downloaded from this order
4. Choose "Replace spreadsheet" and click Import data
