Saturnia Darkwood Anointing Perfume Oil, Roll-On Jojoba, Herbal Woody Musk, Small Batch

A jojoba perfume and anointing oil, two years in the making, crafted by correspondence as much as by smell. Deep, dark, herbal, woody, and musky.

I first crafted this on the morning of August 27, 2024. It was called Expansion then. I had been collecting oils for candles, spellcraft, and other work, and at some point it became obvious they could also be worn. I wanted something I could use as an anointing oil every day, something that could live inside ordinary practice.

I kept wearing it and remaking it. A sandalwood-and-musk blend gave the perfume a deeper, muskier body that stayed. Cypress sharpened the woods with a slight sour edge. Darkwood is what Expansion grew into after two years of wearing it, changing it, losing materials, finding replacements, and learning what I wanted it to smell like.

THE SCENT

Eucalyptus and patchouli keep it herbal. Cypress gives it bite. A brighter, sweeter note comes through the darker woods and resins. There is musk and wood, but also herbs, florals, sweetness, and lift. It never settled into a masculine or feminine perfume.

WHAT IS IN IT

Jojoba oil base. Frankincense, eucalyptus, patchouli, cypress, sweet orange, allspice, myrrh, clove leaf, orris, guaiacwood, Virginia cedarwood, ginger, gurjun balsam, labdanum, geranium, clary sage, benzoin, cubeb, citronella, cedar leaf, and rose. Also contains sandalwood, wisteria, and Egyptian musk fragrance. One fragrance component is supplied in refined mineral oil with vitamin E. Some materials occur inside proprietary blends.

HOW I USE IT

Crown, wrists, ankles. A working close enough to use every morning. You can wear it because you like the scent, or put it to work in your own way.
