This spreadsheet follows one student loan from your last payment down to zero, one payment row at a time, and works out the Estimated interest, Principal, and New balance of every payment.

How to use it:
1. Open Student Loan Payoff Tracker.xlsx in Excel or another spreadsheet app.
2. Copy your interest rate, original balance, and the principal and date of your last payment from your servicer's account page into the Loan Details tab.
3. Enter each payment's date, amount, and fees on one row of the Payment Log tab.
4. Read the Estimated interest, Principal, and New balance that row works out.
5. Open Loan Details to read Paid off so far, Left to pay, and a Progress bar with one segment for every tenth of the loan paid off.

What you download:
One Excel workbook with two tabs, Loan Details and Payment Log, and a quick start sized for US Letter and for A4.
The Payment Log tab holds 360 rows, one for every monthly payment of a 30 year loan.
Estimated interest follows simple daily interest, the rule for federal student loans, so check your lender's terms if your loan is private.
A Note flags any payment that covers less than its fees and interest.

Every field and row ships blank, so the first entry you make is your own loan.

Keep it for the life of the loan, one row per payment until New balance reads zero!
