THERE ARE NO PICTURES IN THIS BOOK
Saying it first because most CVC printables are picture-matching, and a buyer expecting pictures would be right to be cross. Every page here is letters, guide lines and nothing else.

WHAT IT DOES INSTEAD
A picture worksheet tests whether a child can name a drawing as much as whether they can write. A word-family page puts the whole family in front of them at once, so -at is visibly ONE unit and cat, bat, hat and mat are the same three strokes with a single letter changed at the front. That is the phonics point, and it is easier to see when nothing else is on the page.

- 21 word-family pages: the ending large at the top with its starting dots and arrows, then every word in the family on its own ruled line, the first written out and the rest dotted to trace

THE SPACING IS PART OF THE LESSON
Letters sit at their own natural widths rather than on a fixed grid - an l is a hairline and an m is wide - and the gap between repeated words is set wider than the gap between letters, so a child can see where a word ends.
