A handwoven basket backpack in black and natural, made in Tanzania. Hands-free and built for everyday life, from market day to travel.

Handwoven by a collective of women in Iringa, Tanzania, led by Catherine Shembilu of Vikapu Bomba. Many of the weavers are widows who reshaped the traditional market basket into a hands-free everyday bag. Each one takes about a week to make. We're not just selling a bag, we're sharing a culture we love.

FEATURES
- Woven from milulu grass, a reed-like grass gathered along the rivers of Tanzania's southern highlands and dried in the sun
- Handwoven black and natural basket backpack, two-tone weave
- Adjustable leather straps; top handles; brass-tone buckles; Africa tag
- The maker's own label is sewn in, alongside ours

SIZE (approximate): 14.8 in wide x 13.4 in tall x 6.3 in deep (37.5 x 34 x 16 cm). Height does not include handles or straps.

CARE: Spot clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Keep out of prolonged direct sun and standing water to protect the natural fiber and color. Store stuffed with tissue to help it hold its shape between wears.
