Handwoven African basket bag from Tanzania. Oversized brown market tote for everyday carry, the market, or the beach. Made by hand, one of a kind.

This tote is handwoven by a collective of women in Iringa, Tanzania, led by Catherine Shembilu of Vikapu Bomba. Many of the weavers are widows who turned a traditional market and grain basket into something you'd actually carry every day. Each bag takes about a week of hand weaving and careful sewing. We're not just selling a bag, we're sharing a culture we love.

- Woven from milulu grass, a reed-like grass gathered along the rivers of Tanzania's southern highlands and dried in the sun
- Oversized brown handwoven basket tote, shaped from Tanzania's traditional market-basket weave
- Roomy enough for groceries, a laptop, or a beach day's worth of gear
- Genuine dark-brown leather straps; buckle closure; brass-tone hardware
- The maker's own label is sewn in, alongside ours

SIZE (approximate): 13 in wide x 11.2 in tall x 5.9 in deep (33 x 28.5 x 15 cm). Height does not include handles or straps.

CARE: Spot clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Keep out of prolonged direct sun and standing water to protect the natural fiber and color. Store stuffed with tissue to help it hold its shape between wears.
