A handwoven crossbody basket bag in black and gold, made in Tanzania. Lightweight, hands-free, and ready for everyday wear or a night out.
Handwoven by a collective of women in Iringa, Tanzania, led by Catherine Shembilu of Vikapu Bomba. Many of the weavers are widows, and this smaller crossbody shape grew out of the same tradition as the market baskets, just built for hands-free everyday wear. We're not just selling a bag, we're sharing a culture we love.

- Woven from milulu grass, a reed-like grass gathered along the rivers of Tanzania's southern highlands and dried in the sun
- Handwoven black and gold basket crossbody
- Lightweight, hands-free carry for everyday or evening
- Short handles; detachable adjustable strap; antique-brass-tone hardware
- The maker's own label is sewn in, alongside ours
SIZE (approximate): 9.1 in wide x 7.9 in tall x 4.5 in deep (23 x 20 x 11.5 cm). Height does not include handles or straps.
CARE: Spot clean with a soft, slightly damp cloth. Keep out of prolonged direct sun and standing water to protect the natural fiber and color. Store stuffed with tissue to help it hold its shape between wears.
