Why does it take 6-8 weeks to get my order?

The process that starts with a Play Doh impression and ends with a beautiful ceramic keepsake is a long one with many steps. The prints spend a lot of time air drying to prevent cracking. They are kiln fired twice at 2,000+ degrees; therefore, they spend a lot time cooling slowly too. All of the personalization, bow tying, packaging for secure shipping and mailing also takes time. It is a long process, but I know you will be able to see the care that went into the final product.

Can my keepsake say anything I want it to?

Pretty much! If it will physically fit on the front of the keepsake, I will be glad to include anything you wish. There may be an additional charge depending on the style chosen.

I am having a hard time getting a good print! Help!

Did you look over the instructions included in your Print Kit? Did you watch the helpful video in my store? Once in a while someone will struggle. It almost always involves very young babies or 2 year olds. For the young babies: It always helps to have a helper. Let another adult, like Dad, hold the baby while you concentrate on the prints. I know I couldn't get prints without some help. For toddlers: They simply don't appreciate the 30 second confinement. Enlist the help of an older sibling or the helper to distract them at the precise time you make their print. Works like a charm :) You can also call me anytime for more tips and tricks. Together, we will get beautiful prints even if your kiddos aren't enthusiastic!

Should I put my twin's (or sibling's) prints on one piece or two separate pieces?

I get this question a lot. Short answer: It depends on your final plans for the piece(s). If your goal is to give your children their keepsakes when they are grown, you have to put them on two separate pieces. You can't split a single piece later. If you plan to display the piece(s) in the children's bedroom, the children will probably be in separate bedrooms at some point, you would want to put them on two separate pieces. If the goal is to keep them for your own enjoyment, one piece will be fine.

How long do I have to return the prints to you?

6 Months from the date of purchase. According to Play Doh, Inc., their product has an "infinite shelf life if left sealed." Make your baby’s prints when you have the time and your helper is available. Please do them within 6 months. If you are intending your prints to be Christmas gifts, you will need to follow the posted holiday deadlines. Mother's Day and Father's Day also have deadlines. I need 8 weeks to finish your keepsakes AFTER I receive your Play Doh prints.

I submitted my order, but I want to make a change! Can I? Is it too late?

If you make your change within a week of mailing it, there is a good chance you can. It also depends on what the change is--If you initially asked for the piece to read "Emily" and now you want it to read "Emily Ann", this would be a change that can be made easily. The personalization is done in the last stage of the process. If you want to change colors, that change needs to be made within the first 10 days to be safe. The color glazing happens in the second phase. If you want to make a change, just contact me. If it is possible given the point your keepsake is at in the process, I will be glad to do it for you. I want you to be happy with your keepsake. Sometimes that requires making changes. I promise that I am easy to work with

I made my purchase 18 months ago. We never got around to making the prints until now. Is it too late?

Yes, I’m afraid it is. You have 6 months from the date of your purchase to send me your play doh prints.

What do most people choose?

I am asked this question often. For girls, overwhelmingly the favorite color choice is pink. For boys, it is less clear cut. Various shades of blue are favored, but not overwhelmingly. When it comes to shape, currently square is the most popular choice. A few years ago, the most common choice was round. Tastes change, and so does Itty Bitty Prints! Regarding style, for babies younger than 1 year, most people choose either a hand and foot style or one of the two hands and two feet styles.

My sister is having a baby. Do you offer gift certificates?

Yes! You will determine your budget for the gift, and we will work on a piece that fits within that budget. The recipient will be able to choose the shape, the personalization and the color. I will send a Print Kit to you (or directly to the recipient if we are short on time) that is suitable for wrapping. A lovely card that will announce your gift will be included.

Is it a problem if I let the Play Doh dry out?

Yes, it is. Once dry, the Play Doh almost always cracks severely. Even if it hasn't cracked yet, it will probably in shipment. I can't repair a crack that runs through the print. This is why I ask in the instructions for the Play Doh to be kept soft at all times.

This is how it all works:

1. Choose a keepsake style from our store OR call me for a completely custom piece.
2. Checkout through Etsy.
3. We will ship your super easy to use, low tech Print Kit within 24 hours via USPS Priority Mail.
4. Make your child’s impressions, and return them to me in the crush proof, pre-addressed mailer provided in your Print Kit.
5. I will make molds with the impressions you made. I will use those molds to make as many keepsakes as you have ordered. One mold is all it takes!
6. Your finished personalized keepsake will be shipped to you in 6-8 weeks via USPS Priority mail.

This exact style is intended for babies ages birth to 2 years. If your child is 2 years or older, I can do the same basic style with a single handprint. Once babies become toddlers, their feet aren't as interesting as they were when they were babies. If your child is older than 2 years and you really want to imprint their foot, call me and let's talk about it! I'm sure we can come up with a design you will love.
