Christmas Eve at the Marsh Landing - Chesapeake Bay Christmas Cards

Christmas Eve at the Marsh Landing, Chesapeake Bay Christmas Cards, Waterman Holiday Card Set, Coastal Christmas Cards.

A Chesapeake deadrise follows the tidal creek toward a weathered marsh landing as lanterns glow, neighbors prepare for Christmas Eve and a dockside tree shines beneath a rose-and-blue winter sky.

The broad marsh opens around the boat in long, low bands of grass, shallow water and distant shoreline. Its returning wake curves through the creek toward simple wooden docks, working sheds and modest waterfront houses. A second deadrise rests near the marsh bank, ready for another day on the Bay.

At the landing, Christmas has arrived without disguising the place’s working character. String lights trace the docks. A wreath hangs on the central shed. Warm windows shine across the water while neighbors gather near a modest decorated tree and prepare the landing for the evening’s supper and fellowship.

Christmas Eve at the Marsh Landing is an imagined Chesapeake community rather than a portrait of one specific town. It draws on the tidal creeks, deadrise boats, marsh grass, oyster and crab traditions, weathered buildings and close waterfront communities found throughout the Bay region.
