Every letter page opens with a step-by-step strip that builds the letter one stroke at a time: a numbered red dot where the pencil starts, an arrow for the direction, and "keep going" or "lift your pencil" under each step. Then a picture for the sound, a row to trace from red start dots and an empty line to write alone, plus a letter hunt and a "draw something that starts with…" box on the capital pages, or the picture word to trace on the lowercase pages.
