45 murder cases in a great English house, each solved with a grid, a pencil and nothing else. Nobody bleeds, nothing is described, and not one case needs a guess.

A logic grid is a whodunit you solve like a proof. You get the scene, then a numbered list of clues: who was not in the gun room, who was seen exactly half an hour after the one carrying the oak footstool, which two statements cannot both be true. You cross out what is impossible, circle what is certain, and the last name standing is the one you want.

WHAT'S IN THE FILE

- 45 cases, each on two pages: the story and the whole clue list on one, then a full-size grid with lines for notes on the next. Print both and lay them side by side.
- Three tiers of fifteen — Warm-Up, Investigation, Cold Case — ordered by how much work the solving takes, not by grid size.
- 4, 5 or 6 suspects (10 cases, 19 cases and 16 cases respectively). 27 cases match four things — who was where, carrying what, last seen when — and 18 add a fifth column, Wearing: none in Warm-Up, 4 in Investigation, 14 in Cold Case, so the book gets wider as well as harder.
- 749 clues in all, from 7 to 30 per case (median 16), in seven forms: plain eliminations, direct placements, either/or pairs, "these three were three different people", strict before/after ordering, exact time gaps, and "exactly one of these two statements is true".
- A full solution for every case, pages 100–145: the answer table, the same answer marked on a filled grid, and the reasoning written out in plain English, clue by clue — so a case you could not finish still teaches you something.
- 38 rooms and 39 objects across the volume — the herb garden, the linen room, the stillroom, the gun room, the dovecote, the ice house; a hurricane lamp, a birdcage, a cricket bat, a jar of beeswax.
- The paperback's own teaching pages, 5–9, carried over unchanged: how to solve a logic grid, a three-person case worked from start to finish, and how the tiers were measured. Never filled a grid before? Start there.

GRIDS 21% BIGGER THAN THE PAPERBACK'S

Every page is enlarged by 21% from the 6 × 9 in paperback to fill US Letter. Measured in the file you get: grid squares 8.56 mm across in the four-suspect cases and 4.81 mm in the tightest six-suspect ones, against 7.06 mm and 3.96 mm in the paperback. The clue text grows with them. That is the whole point of buying the file instead of the book: more room for a pencil, and you can print a fresh copy whenever you want one.

ONE ANSWER, AND NO GUESSING — CHECKED, NOT CLAIMED

This is the paperback's own printed statement, reproduced word for word on page 2 of the file: the cases were generated by a computer program written for the purpose, and every one was then checked by three separate solvers. A solution counter proved that each case has exactly one answer; a second, independent counter re-proved it; and a deduction-only solver confirmed the answer can be reached from the printed clues by reasoning alone, with no guessing. The program also verified that no clue is redundant — remove any one of them and the case would have more than one answer. 49 cases were generated for this volume and 4 were thrown out for needing a guess.

PRINTING

US Letter, portrait, single-sided, the same margin left and right — no book gutter pulling the grid off centre. Print at 100% / "Actual size" with "Fit to page" off. Black ink on white, so greyscale printing loses nothing. Page 3 is a one-page print guide with the ranges: how to solve 5–9, cases 10–99, solutions 100–145 — and the pattern for printing one case at a time (Case n is on pages 2n + 8 and 2n + 9, its solution on page n + 100, so Case 12 is pages 32–33 and page 112).

WHAT YOU MAY DO WITH IT

Print it as often as you like for yourself and your own household, and print copies for one group you run yourself — a classroom, a care-home or day-centre activity session, a library or community puzzle club. A logic grid is the rare puzzle a whole table can be handed at once and then argue about. You may not resell or give away the file, sell the printed pages, or put the cases into anything you sell. The full licence is page 4 of the PDF.

WHAT THIS IS NOT

- A PDF to print. Not a physical book, not an app, nothing is mailed.
- Not a murder-mystery party kit: no roles to act, no host script. These are pencil-and-paper logic puzzles with a whodunit dressing.
- Not editable or fillable on screen. Solve it on paper.
- The same book is also sold as a paperback on Amazon. This file and the paperback are separate purchases; buying one does not include the other.
- 145 pages at one sheet each is a real stack of paper. Print the cases you want, when you want them.

HOW THESE PUZZLES WERE MADE

The 45 cases were generated, solved and checked by a computer program written for this series, in the same way a crossword compiler produces a crossword. The case text — the scene-setting paragraphs, the clue sentences, the names and the titles — was produced by the same program from written templates with the help of an AI assistant. The paperback's copyright page says so too, and page 2 of this file reproduces it word for word.
