HONEST CARE NOTES
- Poinsettias are not deadly: the ASPCA calls them over-rated in toxicity (mild stomach upset). We still say keep them out of reach.
- Most "Christmas cacti" sold are actually Thanksgiving cacti. The card shows how to tell them apart; the care is the same.
- Amaryllis can bloom again: keep the leaves growing all summer, then give the bulb a cool, dry rest of 8 to 10 weeks.
- Floppy paperwhites: Cornell's "pickling" trick (1 part 80-proof gin or vodka to 7 parts water) keeps them about a third shorter.
- Florist azaleas are seriously toxic to pets. The card says so plainly.
