E-Ink Journal Template, 120 Pages, Lined, Dotted, Blank (PDF Download)

A numbered journal for an e-ink tablet with a pen, in the three rulings people argue about: lined, dotted and blank. The index at the front has a line for every page in the book and the number beside it is a link, so you write what is on a page once and can jump to it from then on. Writing pages carry their own number and links to the index and adjacent pages where present.

WHAT YOU GET
Five downloads, 126 pages in every one of the nine PDF files inside them:

WHAT IS IN IT
- 120 numbered pages, each with a topic line at the top and its number in the header
- 3 index pages, 40 entries each, one line for every page in the book
- lined: ruled lines 8 mm apart, the same spacing as our reading books
- dotted: a dot grid 5 mm apart, 744 dots on a page, drawn as vector, not as a picture
- blank: nothing but the topic line, the page number and the buttons

HYPERLINKED
Counted in the finished file, not promised: 487 links and 123 link targets in each of the nine files, 0 of them broken and 0 pointing outside the file.
Writing-page buttons sit at the foot of the page, at least 47 mm from the left and right edges of the page and 15 mm from the bottom edge.

YOU CAN TYPE INTO IT AS WELL AS WRITE IN IT
The PDFs include text form fields: 2525 fields in the lined e-ink file, 240 in the dotted one and 240 in the blank one, counted in the finished PDFs. Handwriting needs PDF annotation support; typing needs a PDF reader that supports text form fields. Device behaviour has not been tested.

E-INK PDF
- page size 157 x 210 mm, the 3:4 approximate page ratio; screen fit and PDF features vary by device
- nothing smaller than 10 pt anywhere in the file
- no stock pictures and no generated imagery inside the file: 0 images in 126 pages, everything is typeset by our own program
- print the A4 or US Letter files at 100 percent scale, single sided or double sided

HOW TO GET IT ON YOUR DEVICE
Download the files on a computer or a phone, unzip the print archives, and import the PDF using your reader manufacturer's supported workflow. A PDF reader with annotation support is required for handwriting; typing requires a reader that supports PDF text form fields. No ARLing account is required.

WHAT WE HAVE NOT TESTED
We have not tested these files on a physical e-ink tablet. Page counts, internal links and form fields have been checked in the finished PDFs. Writing, typing, navigation and import behaviour depend on the PDF reader and device; compatibility with a particular device is not guaranteed.
