Seller's description

I have 5 Royal Worcester porcelain Egg Coddlers, 2 are “ King Size” and will hold 2 eggs. The other 3 will hold a single egg. These are all in excellent condition, although there are no original boxes. They represent three different patterns and I believe all were made in the 1970-1980s based on the back stamp. These are made of white porcelain, decorated with plants, birds and butterflies. They have chrome plated lids with a loop on top for lifting from the boiling water, and the inner rim is also chrome plated. Double coddlers are 4 1/2” tall to the top of the lid loop, and 2 1/2” across the rim. Single egg coddlers are 3 1/2” tall and 2” across. These are all sold separately.

If you are a fan of runny eggs, these are the perfect way to cook and present them. If you cut your toast into strips you can dunk it into your runny eggs very neatly. It’s easier than poaching, you just crack the egg into the coddler, close it up and put the coddler into boiling - simmering water for 7-9 minutes. There’s enough room to add some cheese, herbs, maybe a bit of ham or pre-cooked bacon. Then you could tip it all out onto some toasted sourdough and have a really great breakfast.

These are no longer made, Royal Worcester having been bought by Portmerion in 2009.

Sold separately.

1. Strawberry Fair 1974-1978
Double - plant with two berries on the front, butterfly in side view on the back.
Single, plant with single berry and butterfly with open wings on the back.

2. Lavinia Blackberry discontinued since 1991

“The colorful Colorado booklets were exactly what I was looking for. They'll be part of a Colorado-themed gift I'm giving. Super fast delivery and I loved reading Janet's hand written note! I'm glad she's kept a collection of items from yesteryear to share with others!”
