Oxide red, fine white linework and a title block of factory figures give the artwork presence across a room. The F40's three-quarter study and its front, side and rear elevations invite a closer look. Above a desk or in a garage lounge, it's a conversation piece for anyone who knows what that name means.

The subject is the 1987 F40, with its proportions taken from the manufacturer's own dimensions. The title block carries the factory figures: 4430 x 1970 x 1124 mm on a 2450 mm wheelbase, 2936 cc twin-turbo V8, 478 CV, 321 km/h. It was built to mark Ferrari's 40th anniversary.

Every car was a drawing before it was a car. We start with the finished car and draw it back to that first decision, until the proportion is honest and the stance is right and you would know it from across the room without a badge.
