This is the piece for the night you want a little distance. A single strand on adjustable wire, sits close around the throat: black faceted glass beads and deep purple ones that flash violet and bronze as they catch the light, each pair separated by a small polished silver tone rondelle so the strand reads as beads and metal in equal measure.

Across the front hangs a row of silver tone stainless steel cone spikes, each on its own loop so they swing free and sit evenly against the collarbone. Worn against bare skin they throw a row of small shadows down the neck.

It is punk in its hardware and gothic in its color - the spikes do the talking, and the purple keeps it from reading as costume.

Symbolism

Punk picked the shape up two thousand years later and pointed it outward at everyone else. Either way the logic holds: you put the hardest thing you own over the softest part of you.
