Burnt orange, deep chocolate shadow and expressive PANTERA lettering give the artwork presence across a room. The silver Pantera seen from front and rear, its grille badge, script and cabin invite a closer look. Above a desk or in a garage lounge, it's a conversation piece for anyone who knows what that name means.

The subject is the 1972 Pantera, the early coupe from before the safety bumpers, styled by Tom Tjaarda at Ghia. Its mid-mounted Ford 351 Cleveland V8, ZF transaxle and steel monocoque made it a defining De Tomaso, sold in the United States through Lincoln-Mercury dealers. The early Pantera put Italian wedge design and American mechanical force in one car.

Every car was a drawing before it was a car. We start with the finished car and draw it back to that first decision, until the proportion is honest and the stance is right and you would know it from across the room without a badge.
